We wander into nothingness expecting something.....

Sometimes we wander into nothingness expecting something....

Another Holga shot. I quite like this one and it has a disappearing horizon and a strong path leading into oblivion....things I like to see in a photo.

I found a piece of broken glass and held it up to the lens of the Holga and clicked.

Sometimes you click and it works, and other times, you just click and wait for karma to wave her magic about for a nice photo to happen...

It's time to be quiet now so you can wander around and enjoy this nothingness.

We Are small

 Lake Roosevelt in Arizona.

When you think about Arizona, a big bridge over a lake with lots of water isn't what normally comes to mind.  But there is a lot of water in the eastern central part of the state.  it's almost a bit unsettling to see it all, but nice no less and there are Osprey and many water fowl and birds here.

It's a good spot to camp and relax and make lazy photos.

Three Holga shots lined up then stitched together. There were Ospreys screaming overhead. Beautiful!

Holbrook, Arizona

Standing on the corner in...Holbrook, Arizona?

Another song back when music was understandable and clothes were not.

It's a cloudy day outside, so that means catching up on developing my backlog of road-trip films and then the dreaded scanning.  I have about 15 rolls of film to develop and scan, so my weekend is spoken for..but I do have time for cake if anyone is asking.

Holga 120S original with some film.

BTW- I love Holbrook Arizona. I've been five times in the past year just to drive through the painted desert, the petrified forest and hike the Blue Mesa trail....then get quesabirria tacos at a local taco joint in town. Magnifico!

Saguaro Welcome

East of Phoenix at a campground inhabited by large Saguaros that resemble people...somewhat.

Prickly arms welcome visitors....is that possible?

I know for certain they throw up their arms like this because it's an exclamation for "Ugh, this heat!"

Double Exposures, double life

A double exposure with the Reality So Subtle pinhole camera at a creek that flows through the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado.

Not intentional, but always welcome because it humbles me to know mistakes are meaningful and show us things in different perspectives. Light. Shadow, blended into a mashup of what is there if we just look slowly.

We look at things all the time without considering that our retinas are just continually registering and filing images away.

Walk, breathe, take your time.

Once Always

Once Always.....

I was reminded today of a past life that I had involving recreational drug use....and going through my pinhole archives I found this, which is kind of appropriate and reminds me of those days.
Vivid over saturated visions...

My use was not long or for any duration, but once you do it, you never forget it.

Medano Creek at The Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado.

Ankle deep water this trip, so had to wade in for this one.

 Here's a sink.

I need to have some massive dental work done, failed root canal thanks to a local dentist that i have fired.

Mosquitos are zizzing around. It rained today which is great.

The world is upside down.

So, here's a sink.

i love sinks.

Reality so Subtle 6 x 6, the deeper one.

pan 50 film=posh!

 No explanation, except it's pinhole.

35mm film stuffed in a 120 Reality so Subtle pinhole and then clicked through like I knew what I was doing...which is sometimes, but often seldom.

Pinhole.

It's what life is about.

It's about what life isn't.

It's about what matters, or doesn't...

this sounds all kind of Cat in the hattish...

Seriously. Pinhole is life slowed down.

Reality So Subtle camera with film...the way life should be.

test...Test...Test

the first shot from a new pinhole camera.

A Reality So Subtle from James over in France.

It shoots 6 x 6, has a filter ring and is deeper than the uber wide cameras he makes.

It's going on the road to Arizona with me soon.

This is a view of my kitchen sink, which serves as my darkroom. Ta!

Jornada Del Muerto

Looking south out over the Jornada Del Muerto.

The journey of the death, or dead man.

I've driven this road a few times now and each visit reveals another secret.

Reality So Subtle pinhole, with a little light leak cause by moi by not putting the top on correctly. I like it.

It's like looking at a daytime aurora.

Ocassionally I accidentally mess up the winding with a pinhole camera and it reveals some karmic photo when i develop the roll.

This one is like viewing a real life transition when you are moving between places yet are in both places simultaneously.

If you think about places you have been and places you are going, it's sort of like that...a daydream of everything all at once. Ethereal being.

I'm not going to go on and on about it, not today at least. I need to pack for another road trip to southern New Mexico.

Pinhole adventures await.

Photo above was made with the Reality So subtle 6 x 6 camera. Some film and some coffee developer.

Swish swish.

The Leggy Goose

You all know I'm terrible about updating this place....

I have good intentions, but good intentions are useless around me.

This is from World Pinhole Day, which was April 28.

made with a Reality So Subtle 6 x 9 F pinhole camera .

The F means filter, which was yellow in this case.

kentmere 400 film, for maybe 20 seconds.

I don't meter, I just pretend to be the emulsion and go for it.

The Edge of the World

Just in case you've wondered about where the edge of the World is...

Holga wide pinhole

 Another day, another pinhole photo...

Although, I made this one yesterday just because I found a small film-holder that was loaded with some ancient Efke that I needed to know if it still worked or was fogged...

And guess what, it works...mostly.

The cool thing about digging through old boxes of stuff is finding some left behinds.

I sometimes think about just sticking to one format and one camera and one film emulsion, but it NEVER works that way. I'm too fickle and love too many cameras.

Finding this particular film holder with old EFKE in it has prompted me to go on another search for a prized little box I have that hasn't been used in a few years.  Stay tuned for that...plus I want to build another camera after seeing one a friend had built for this same small format size....

Have a great Monday!

Pancho Villa was here....

What the heck? Another post? Is the world going to end...well not just yet I hope.

Same camera as before, the Holga wide pinhole which I love all over again.

Campsite at Columbus, New Mexico...yeah, where Pancho Villa raided the town... it's an interesting story with a lot of intrigue and mystique actually.

Pancho Villa State Park sits a scant three miles north of the border with Mexico and is quite sparse as state parks go.

I loved it here! Not crowded, wide open spaces. Lot's of camper spots, scrubby trees with attitude and enough sky to fill a few rolls of film.

The State Park has a nice museum, and the historical museum adjacent to the SP has an old train caboose and lots of information about the town, the railroad and old "stuff". The museum is free and the state park has a minimal entrance fee which it well worth the cost.  It's about a five hour drive south of Albuquerque, with T or C , then Hatch and then Deming along the way for some added stops and good food.

 Wow!

It's been a minute as they say...

I'm still kicking and ticking and counting in my head for pinhole stuff.

This one made in a park in Blanco Texas after a deluge of rain. I'd forgotten what a good rainstorm felt like since we rarely have them in New Mexico.

Rain is really wet when it comes downs in buckets. It's also warm and not ice cold like here at home...but it was cold on this early January day.

Holga Wide pinhole at the 6 x 12 format on 120 film if you must know the deets.

This is going to be my camera du jour for the year for pinhole, so by some rare chance I post on a regular basis again, that's the scoobie doo on that.

Stay well everyone.

I may be back....
